sign-in sheet was distributed.
Approve the minutes of the
previous meeting The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as
Update on Hassebroek Dump
cleanup – Dan Harden explained the clean-up process indicating that
the project is now complete and that a final report will be submitted to the
State of Kansas for their approval. A Site map and pictures of the clean-up
process were passed around the table.
Update on Solid Waste Fund
Status – Dan Harden distributed financial reports to each committee
member. A short discussion followed.
Discuss Recycling Directory
– Julie Winter updated the committee on the status of the 2002 Recycling
Directory. A motion was made by William Eberle to continue with the
publication and distribution of the Flint Hills Recycling Directory. Seconded
by Judy Willingham. Motion carried.
Karen McCulloh volunteered to
assist Julie with the 2002 directory cover. The committee decided to print
20,000 directories again this year with 14,000 of these inserted into a Sunday
edition of the Manhattan Mercury.

Discuss America Recycles Day – America Recycles Day November 15, 2001. The committee decided to
have the City/County officials sign an America Recycles Proclamation and have
it published in the KSU Collegian and the Manhattan Mercury. John Woods
offered the assistance of the Students for Environment (SEA) of Kansas State University to help prepare the proclamation and to attend the media
conference on the 5th of November.
Next Meeting – The
next meeting will be December 13, 2001 at 7:00 p.m. in the Second Floor
Conference Room of the Riley County Office Building.
