The sign-in sheet was distributed. No guests attended.
Approve the minutes of the
previous meeting The Minutes of February 28, 2002 were changed to
reflect a cash balance of $185,000 instead of $185,00. A motion was made to
approve the February 28, 2002 minutes with correction. Seconded and carried
Update on City’s Recycling
Task Force report Request for Proposals (RFP) to be presented again
to the City Commission on October 15, 2002. Action will be taken at this
meeting. Copies of the RFP are available upon request.
WebSite/Recycling Information Page Julie Winter accessed the Riley County website and presented a brief overview of what it has to offer. Members
present contributed some useful ideas to the site.
Update on Solid Waste Fund
status No update was available at this time.
Update on 2003 Recycling
Directory Julie reported that she would like some new ideas for the
directory and its distribution. Alan Ladd was asked if the Education
Subcommittee would be interested in assisting Julie with this. Ladd will ask
them and get back with Julie. Since the directory will soon be available on
the website a suggestion was made to print the directory every other year.
This will result in significant savings to the Solid Waste Fund. The next
directory will be for years 2003 – 2004.
Annual Solid Waste Plan
Review Monty stated that the current Solid Waste Plan would not need
updated at this time. Dan Harden moved that the current Solid Waste Management
Plan would not need updated until the next review. Betty Book Seconded.
Motion carried unanimously.
Monty will send a letter to the state reflecting this motion by the SWMC.
Solid Waste Management
February 28, 2002
The Yard Waste Subcommittee met to discuss the need for
charging for the disposal of yard waste at the Riley County Solid Waste
Facility. The subcommittee decided to leave things as they are. Currently
there is “no charge” for yard waste disposal at the Riley County Solid Waste
Next meeting Next meeting is scheduled for
November 14, 2002 at 7:00 in the Second Floor Room of the Riley County Office Building.
