Update on Solid Waste Budget - Dan Harden reported that the Solid Waste fund was in the red at the end of 2002.   Harden explained that since the Treasurer’s office closed early on the 31st of December all payments received after noon were not deposited until January 2, 2003 thus resulting in a cash flow problem.   Galitzer requested that a breakdown of the 2002 expenses be available for the next meeting.  A suggestion was made that the County increase the tipping fee from $33.00 per ton to $34.00 per ton.   A brief discussion followed. Staff will determine what effect, if any, this increase would have on the current waste flow and report back to the committee.

Update on Bayer Construction CD Landfill -  Pat Briggs, Bayer Construction, told the committee that they (Bayer Construction) are currently waiting for a  license to operate and should be in full operation within a couple of months.  Schwab-Eaton , PA is assisting Bayer Construction in the licensing/permitting process.   The CD landfill will be available to Bayer’s roll-off business and commercial contractors only.
