VISION 2025 is the title of Riley County's new Comprehensive Plan adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on October 22, 2009. The process of creating the new Plan began in 2005 with a series of informational meetings and accompanying public opinion surveys conducted by the Riley County Planning & Development Department. [
Survey Results- February 2006]
Subsequent to the initial meetings, the Riley County Board of Commissioners, with support from the Riley County Planning Board, formed a
VISION 2025 Committee to provide specific recommendations on updating the Plan. The Committee membership list and the exact
charge to the Committee from the County Commissioners are listed on the side panel.
Summaries of the Committee meetings,
public comments received throughout the process, and
articles, including a
study guide on property rights reviewed by the Committee, can all be found on this site.

Next Steps
The next step is to implement the plan through the adoption of new land development regulations. Currently a consulting firm, Clarion Associates, is preparing a diagnosis report that will identify for the Riley County Planning Board and the Board of County Commissioners, the changes to the current regulations needed to implement the plan. Once the diagnosis report is accepted by the Planning Board and County Commissioners, work will begin on preparing draft land development regulations.
Once draft regulations have been adequately prepared, public meetings will be scheduled to review the draft regulations with the public and obtain feedback on needed changes. Notice of these public meetings will be accomplished through a variety of means, including direct notice to all persons who have subscribed to Vision 2025 updates on the Notify Me system.
