The Vision 2025 - A Comprehensive Plan for Riley County, Kansas serves as a general policy guide for future development within the unincorporated areas of Riley County. The Comprehensive Plan is adopted by the Riley County Planning Board and is approved by the Board of County Commissioners following public hearings. Maps in the Comprehensive Plan consists of Existing Land Use, Future Land Use, Development Guidance System, Land Evaluation/Site Assessment (LESA) and Road Functional Classification.
The current Plan was adopted in 2009. The Riley County Planning Board annually reviews the Plan to determine if any parts are obsolete and whether or not revisions are necessary to meet changing community needs and conditions.
Implementation of the Plan is accomplished through the Zoning & Subdivision Regulations, the Sanitary Code and other regulatory/non-regulatory tools. A copy of Vision 2025 - A Comprehensive Plan for Riley County, Kansas is available for viewing in the Planning & Development Department.
