Vision 2025

Comprehensive Plan

The Vision 2025 - A Comprehensive Plan for Riley County, Kansas serves as a general policy guide for future development within the unincorporated areas of Riley County. The current plan was adopted in 2009. The Riley County Planning Board annually reviews the plan to determine if any parts are obsolete and whether or not revisions are necessary to meet changing community needs and conditions. 

Implementation is accomplished through the Zoning & Subdivision Regulations, the Sanitary Code and other regulatory/non-regulatory tools. A paper copy of Vision 2025 - A Comprehensive Plan for Riley County, Kansas is available for viewing in the Planning & Development Department.

Update

A comprehensive plan update is in process. The new plan is expected to be completed and presented the the Riley County Board of County Commissioners by the end of 2024.

Implementation of Vision 2025

To implement the recommendations in the Vision 2025 Plan, amendments to the Zoning and Subdivision Regulations were adopted by the Riley County Board of Commissioners at a public hearing on May 21, 2012.
