Offender Workforce Development Services

In 2004, Kansas’ Department of Corrections (KDOC) began training selected officers to provide the Offender Workforce Development Services (OWDS) curriculum to their clients. The program focuses on preparing and/or aiding clients in gaining and sustaining employment in a field of interest.

How We Work

Our primary initiative is to help clients make informed decisions relative to their career development, job retention, and career advancement. To do this, we:

  • Assess one’s employment interests
  • Assess one's employment skills
  • Facilitate resume building workshops
  • Host a weekly job club
  • Conduct mock interviews
  • Actively assist clients in the job search process
