Riley County Commission Chairman Tests Positive for COVID-19

(RILEY COUNTY, KS- November 3, 2021) Riley County Commission Chairman John Ford has tested positive for COVID-19. Ford tested positive on November 2nd. The Riley County Health Department is notifying those who are considered close contacts of Commissioner Ford.

“I received a booster shot on Friday, and I woke up yesterday morning with severe congestion, headache and loss of smell, and immediately canceled all activities and went to get tested. My symptoms are extremely mild at this point, and I look forward to getting back to full strength and health to do the work I need to do for Riley County,” said Commissioner Ford. 

In order to ensure the health and safety of Riley County employees and the community, the commission chambers will be sanitized. Additionally, the County Commission meeting scheduled for Thursday, November 4th is canceled, and Commissioner Ford is in the process of canceling his other in-person engagements. 

Another Riley County employee in close contact with Commissioner Ford has also tested positive and is currently in quarantine. 
At this point, no further details will be released with respect to the privacy of individual health information.
