11-18-21 Update: Two deaths and 116 new positive COVID cases in Riley County

RILEY COUNTY COVID UPDATE

(RILEY COUNTY, KS – November 18, 2021) Two Riley County residents have passed away after testing positive for COVID-19.

 

  • A 63 year old unvaccinated female tested positive on 10/5/21 and died 10/15/21 

  • A 46 year old unvaccinated male died on 7/29/21. Lab tests performed after his death confirmed COVID-19 as a contributing factor of death 

Their deaths bring the total number of COVID-related deaths in the county to 64. 


Riley County has identified 116 new positive Coronavirus cases and 88 additional recoveries since the last report on November 10, 2021. 


In Riley County, since December, there have been a total of 256 positive cases from variants of concern


Six COVID-positive patients are currently under care at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. Five patients, one of whom is fully vaccinated, are on the medical floor. One unvaccinated patient is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).

  • Total positive cases in Riley County Residents: 8,374

  • Total active: 161

  • Total recovered: 8149

  • Total deaths: 64

  • Total variant cases: 265

Vaccine Operations: 


Riley County Health Department itself is currently providing third doses (boosters) of the COVID-19 vaccine. Beginning November 17, all fully vaccinated Kansans over the age of 18 are now eligible for booster shots if they have met the 6-month time period following Moderna or Pfizer vaccine or the 2-month time period following the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, and based on the patient’s risk exposure self-assessment. 


A Moderna booster shot clinic will be held at the Riley County Family and Child Resource Center (2101 Claflin Road, Manhattan) on Thursday, December 2 from 2pm - 6pm.  Individuals MUST schedule an appointment. To schedule an appointment visit: https://rileyco-1202.rsvpify.com/

 

Testing


Rapid and saliva testing is available for free. Testing is offered:

  • Monday through Friday KDHE will be at the Manhattan Town Center parking lot on the north side from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm offering ONLY PCR testing. Please note the site will be close on Thursday, November 25th. 

  • The Health Department will continue to offer Rapid testing (antigen) for symptomatic individuals. Please call our screening line to schedule an appointment 785-565-6560.

  • Testing is also available: 

    • Thursdays from 6pm-8pm by appointment. This is for symptomatic individuals. Please call our screening line to schedule an appointment 785-565-6560.

Week 45 (November 7 - 13) 8.0% 

  • 113 positive 

  • 1419 total tests

Week 44 (October 31 - November 6) 5.2%

  • 76 positive 

  • 1437 total tests

Two-week average: 6.62%

  • 189 positive 

  • 2856 total tests
