Riley County Board of County Commissioners are excited to announce Cory Meyer has been named Director of Information Technology/GIS for Riley County, KS. Meyer has worked for the County for 13 years and was appointed to the new role on November 15.

“It’s a pleasure to work with such an efficient and skilled team,” said Meyer. “My goal is to develop additional training programs to help staff grow and bring even more benefit to the community through the expert use of technology. I will also focus our efforts to make sure the County’s disaster recovery plans and policies are solid.”

As Director, Meyer will be responsible for oversight and management of the Information Technology and Geographical Information Systems staff and county wide initiatives. The IT Director coordinates all aspects of IT across the county and its affiliated agencies.

“Our primary role is support,” said Meyer. “We serve the public by empowering staff to do their jobs efficiently and effectively. To accomplish that, we approach IT with kindness, caring, and concern – no matter how big or small the issue we respond in a professional and caring manner to make sure staff get what they need.”

Meyer started as the Network Administrator for Riley County 13 years ago and has been working with government-related information systems for 24 years. He began his career representing wiring and PC vendors supporting counties, cities, and schools. Meyer holds certifications in IBMAS400, VMWare, and Microsoft Server and Security.

“Riley County is one of the best places to work in the entire region,” said Meyer. “I’m happy in the morning and I enjoy my drive to work because I like my job. We have lots of support, plus great tools and systems that make this a good environment. I’m grateful that I get to continue my career with the County.”

The Riley County Information Technology Department is responsible for the development, operation, and maintenance of all county information systems and technology-related hardware and software.
