(RILEY COUNTY, KS – January 4, 2022) The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has updated isolation and quarantine guidance following the recent changes by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for the general population and healthcare workers. The Riley County Health Department has adopted the new guidelines as outlined by KDHE effective immediately.

CDC is in the process of updating guidance for other settings such as correctional facilities, long-term care facilities, preschool, K-12 schools and institutions of higher education. At this time, guidance for school-aged children and congregate facilities has not been changed.

Details about changes to quarantine and isolation periods are outlined on the CDC website at https://www.cdc.gov/media/releases/2021/s1227-isolation-quarantine-guidance.html

“The most significant changes to guidelines relate to the number of days for quarantine and isolation in certain situations,” said Local Health Officer Julie Gibbs. “We have remained consistent with KDHE and CDC guidance since the beginning of the pandemic and will continue to do so.”

Calls and requests for testing and vaccine appointments continue to increase in Riley County.

“As more people seek testing appointments and resources, it may take longer to get test results,” said Gibbs. “Please stay home and stay away from others if you are experiencing any symptoms of COVID and follow the advice of your doctor.”
