(RILEY COUNTY, KS – February 23, 2022) Beginning March 1, the Riley County Health Department will offer some services on a walk-in basis. Appointments are still recommended, but not required for the following services:

  • Immunizations (routine and COVID-19)
  • TB skin tests
  • Plan B
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Vaccine titers to confirm immunity
  • B12 injections
  • Head lice checks
  • Testing, counseling, and treatment of sexually transmitted infections

Please note, most Family Planning Services, including birth control prescriptions and well women exams, will only be available by appointment. For more information, or to schedule an appointment, please call (785) 776-4779.

“Since 2015, the health department has only offered services by appointment, and this limitation created a barrier for some patients,” said Administrative Director Julie Gibbs. “Our goal is to reduce barriers and increase access to healthcare. With this operational change, we’re hoping to serve more people.”

The hours for both walk-ins and scheduled appointments at the health clinic are as follows:

  • Monday – Wednesday: 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday: 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Friday 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

“We’re proud of the high quality of service we’re able to offer at the health department,” said Gibbs. “We have state-of-the art equipment, highly trained staff, and a beautiful facility. With the rising cost of healthcare, visiting our clinic can be a practical and affordable option.”

Billing for health department services is assessed on a sliding scale. Patients may be required to provide proof of income.
