(RILEY COUNTY, KS – April 6, 2022) Riley County identified nine new COVID-19 cases and three additional recoveries in Week 13 (March 27 - April 2). There are currently 16 known active COVID-19 cases in the county. 

An additional death was also verified through the Office of Vital Statistics last week. The patient was a 101 year-old female who tested positive on January 11 and passed away February 9. She was fully vaccinated. Her passing represents the 80th COVID-related death in Riley County.

One COVID-19 patient is currently hospitalized at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.

  • Active cases: 16
  • Positive patients at Via Christi Hospital: 1
  • New recoveries: 3
  • Recent deaths: 1
  • Total positive cases: 13,466
  • Total recoveries: 13,370
  • Total deaths: 80

Incidence Per 100,000 People

  • Week 12 (March 20 - 26): 9.43*
  • Week 13 (March 27 - April 2): 12.12

*Please note, the incidence rate for Week 12 changed because one patient was identified as a resident of another county and removed from Riley County’s total.

Free COVID-19 tests (both rapid and PCR tests) are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 3019 Anderson Avenue. No appointment is necessary and testing will be offered through the month of April. This is the facility formerly operated by KDHE.

Free COVID-19 vaccines will continue to be available at the Riley County Health Department at 2030 Tecumseh Road with or without an appointment. Vaccines will be offered during regular clinic hours (Monday - Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Thursday noon – 6 p.m., and Friday 8:30 - 11 a.m.). Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are encouraged to reduce wait times. Call (785) 565-6560 to schedule a vaccine appointment.
