No further evacuations are expected tonight. The fire is burning mainly USACE lands at this time. Volunteer firefighters remain on scene.
5:00 PM UPDATE
No structures are threatened at this time and no further evacuations have been issued in Riley County.
Volunteer firefighters remain on scene. Successful backburns have been conducted to provide fire breaks near homes and structures. Additional backburns are planned. No injuries have been reported.
3:30 PM April 6, 2022
A very large grass fire is burning in the area near Carlson Road, north of Fancy Creek in northern Riley County. Several hundred acres have burned so far, and two properties have been evacuated.
Northwest winds are currently pushing the fire to the southeast.
No other structures are threatened at this time but people who live on the west slope of Tuttle Creek Lake near Randolph should have a plan to evacuate in case the situation changes.
