(RILEY COUNTY, KS – April 20, 2022) Riley County identified 2 new COVID-19 cases and 19 additional recoveries in Week 15 (April 10-16). There are currently four known active COVID-19 cases in the county.
No (0) COVID-19 patients are currently hospitalized at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan.
“In Kansas, the status of COVID-19 has changed from a pandemic to an endemic,” said Local Health Officer Julie Gibbs. “This means that COVID-19 is still here, but we now have the tools to reduce its impact.”

“The demand for testing has been very low,” said Gibbs. “At this point, we’re testing an average of 3-6 individuals per day, and we’re mostly seeing people who need tests for travel or other verification purposes.”
Free COVID-19 tests (both rapid and PCR tests) are available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at 3019 Anderson Avenue. No appointment is necessary and testing will be offered through the month of April. After April 29th, testing will no longer be available at this location. When the testing facility closes, people are encouraged to seek testing from healthcare providers, KSTAT, or use an at-home test.
Free, at-home COVID-19 tests are available at 3019 Anderson Avenue through the month of April, and the Riley County Health Department will continue distributing at-home tests at 2030 Tecumseh Road during hours of operation. Free COVID-19 vaccines are also available at RCHD. Walk-ins are welcome.

- Monday - Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Thursday noon – 6 p.m., and
- Friday 8:30 - 11 a.m.
