(RILEY COUNTY, KS – April 27, 2022) Riley County identified 4 new COVID-19 cases and 15 additional recoveries in Week 16 (April 17-23). There are currently two known active COVID-19 cases in the county. 

One additional COVID-19-related death has been confirmed by the Office of Vital Statistics (OVS). The patient was a 74 year-old, unvaccinated male. He tested positive on 01/14/2022 and passed away on 2/9/2022. His passing brings the total number of COVID-related deaths in Riley County to 81.

One COVID-19 patient is currently hospitalized at Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. This patient is fully vaccinated and boosted.

  • Active cases: 2 (down from 4)
  • Positive patients at Via Christi Hospital: 1
  • New recoveries: 15
  • Recent deaths: 0
  • Total positive cases: 13,490
  • Total recoveries: 13,407
  • Total deaths: 81

Incidence Per 100,000 People

  • Week 15 (April 10-16): 2.6
  • Week 16 (April 17-23): 5.38

“This is the last week for testing at the 3019 Anderson Avenue facility,” said Local Health Officer Julie Gibbs. “Several pharmacies, urgent care centers, and most doctor’s offices will continue to offer testing. You can also pick up free, at-home test kits at the health department, the public library, and the Leonardville City Offices. Demand continues to decrease, but testing options will remain available in the community.”

Friday, April 29 is the last day the RADxUp team will offer COVID-19 tests at 3019 Anderson Avenue. Testing information is available on the Riley County website at https://www.rileycountyks.gov/1869/Get-Tested.

 Free COVID-19 vaccines are  also available at RCHD. Walk-ins are welcome.

RCHD Clinic Hours:

  • Monday - Wednesday 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
  • Thursday noon – 6 p.m., and 
  • Friday 8:30 - 11 a.m.
