(RILEY COUNTY, KS – May 13, 2022) The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) recorded 37 COVID-19 cases for Riley County between May 2-8. The Incidence Rate per 100,000 is 49.8, putting Riley County in the MODERATE incidence category which is 10 - 49 cases per 100,000 people.

There have been a total of 13,711 COVID-19 cases in Riley County as of May 13, 2022 according to the KDHE Case Summary at https://www.coronavirus.kdheks.gov/DocumentCenter/View/1529/May-13-Case-Summary-PDF?bidId=

Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is currently caring for one COVID-19 positive patient.

The Office of Vital Statistics (OVS) reported four additional COVID-19 related deaths for Riley County. 

  • A 72 year old vaccinated female (no booster dose) tested positive on 1/18/2022 and passed away on 2/23/2022.  
  • A 55 year old unvaccinated female tested positive on 11/18/2021 and passed away on 12/17/2021. 
  • A 55 year old unvaccinated male tested positive on 1/1/2022 and passed away on 1/2/2022.
  • A 78 year old vaccinated male (no booster dose) tested positive on 2/16/2022 and passed away on 4/26/2022. 

Their passing brings the total number of deaths in the county to 85. The OVS verifies information on death certificates before releasing it to Riley County Health Department.

Testing

In-person testing is still available at most doctors’ offices, urgent care sites, and some pharmacies. At-home test kits are also available for free at the following locations during their regular hours of operation. Limit two per person.

  • Ogden Community Center - 220 Willow St
