(RILEY COUNTY, KS – June 16, 2022) The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) data dashboard was experiencing technical difficulties yesterday and the case number report was delayed. As of this morning, the dashboard has been repaired. KDHE recorded 53 new COVID-19 cases for Riley County between June 4 - 10. The Incidence Rate per 100,000 is 71.4, putting Riley County in the SUBSTANTIAL incidence category which is 50 - 99 cases per 100,000 people.

As of June 15, Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan was caring for one COVID-19 positive patient.

No (0) additional COVID-related deaths have been recorded. The total number of COVID-19 related deaths for Riley County residents remains 89 people.

There have been a total of 13,940 COVID-19 cases in Riley County reported as of June 15, 2022 according to the KDHE Case Summary. This total does not include any at-home test results.

Please report positive or negative results when you take an at-home test using the online portal. The Report At-Home Test Results link is also available on the Riley County COVID-19 page at www.rileycountyks.gov/covid. The data will be used to give health department staff more information about how COVID-19 is spreading in the community. People who report positive test results will not be contacted by the Riley County Health Department.

“The at-home test data can give health department staff a clearer picture of what is going on in our county, especially since lab-confirmed testing has become less common,” said Local Health Officer and Health Department Director Julie Gibbs. “We realize there is more room for human error with at-home tests and don’t plan to rely exclusively on that information. However, having the data to examine trends over time is still helpful for medical staff.”

Vaccine Information

A Food and Drug Administration (FDA) panel recently endorsed COVID-19 vaccines for children 6 months through 5 years of age. Staff at the health department are working with local pediatricians to coordinate vaccination plans for this age group once approval is announced by the CDC..

“We will share information as soon as plans are in place,” said Gibbs. “Vaccines cannot be administered to this age group before CDC approval.”

COVID-19 vaccines and other immunizations are available at the Riley County Health Department Clinic, located at 2030 Tecumseh Road. Walk-ins are welcome or appointments are available by calling (785) 776-4779 ext. 7675.
