(RILEY COUNTY, KS - July 5, 2022) At 1:04 a.m. Tuesday morning July 5th, Riley County Fire District #1 (RCFD#1) was dispatched to a structure fire located at 100 East Stockdale Lane in Randolph, Kansas. Upon arrival, crews found an abandoned home fully involved with fire.
A total of 11 volunteer firefighters and RCFD#1 personnel responded. Crews extinguished the fire and remained on scene until 3:00 a.m. to ensure embers did not spread to neighboring fields or property.
No injuries have been reported. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
“Thanks to everyone who came out to this fire,” said Deputy Fire Chief Doug Russell. “We have a great crew of volunteers we can count on to help when they’re needed, even if the call comes in the middle of the night.”
The owners of the property are listed as Richard, Monaghan, Thomas, and Mary Jack. According to neighbors, the structure had been abandoned for many years and was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
