(RILEY COUNTY, KS – September 14, 2022) The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) recorded 76 new COVID-19 cases for Riley County for the week of September 3 - 9. The Incidence Rate is 102.4 which places Riley County in the HIGH incidence category with more than 100 cases per 100,000 people. This total does not include any at-home test results.
Ascension Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan is caring for two COVID-19 positive patients at this time. The patients are in the medical ward, not the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and neither is on a ventilator at this time.
No (0) additional deaths have been reported in Riley County this week. The total number of people who have died remains 95.

Vaccine Information
The new, bivalent doses of the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines arrived at RCHD yesterday and will be available to the public starting Thursday, September 15. Pfizer, Moderna, and Novavax vaccines continue to be available at the Riley County Health Department Clinic located at 2030 Tecumseh Road.
Walk-ins are welcome at the Health Department Clinic. People can also schedule appointments by calling (785) 776-4779 ext. 7675.
Riley County Health Clinic Hours:
- Mon-Wed: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Thurs: noon – 6 p.m.
- Fri: 8:30 - 11 a.m.
Children under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian to receive vaccinations. The Health Department does not charge any fees for COVID-19 vaccines.
Who is eligible to receive the new, bivalent boosters and when:
- Individuals 18 years of age and older are eligible for a single booster dose of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
- Individuals 12 years of age and older are eligible for a single booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine, Bivalent if it has been at least two months since they have completed primary vaccination or have received the most recent booster dose with any authorized or approved monovalent COVID-19 vaccine.
COVID-19 Tests
The Riley County Health Department provides free, in-person COVID-19 tests by appointment. Appointments are available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. No walk-ins will be accepted for testing. People can schedule appointments as soon as two hours in advance and as far as five days in advance.

“The process to get tested is simple and results are ready within 30 minutes,” said Health Department Director Julie Gibbs. “We’re seeing more patients each day for testing. There were about a dozen the first day and we’re expecting 20 today. Some people test positive with an at-home kit and want confirmation of the results from a medical professional, and most people who visit us have symptoms. We’re grateful for KDHE’s help so we can provide this service to the community once again.”
