February Employee of the Month: Vivienne Leyva

Vivienne Leyva is February’s Employee of the Month. She has been with the county for one year and is only the second person to fill the Public Information Officer role for the organization.

“This has been a great place to work,” says Vivienne. “The way people care about each other, work together, and make time to laugh really makes a difference. The first time I attended the Department Head meeting and people were cracking jokes and making fun of each other, I thought to myself ‘I’m in the right place.’”

When asked what her favorite part of the job is she said, “Since I work for the entire organization, I get the chance to meet everyone, and that’s been the best part of the job. It’s also fun to get the inside scoop on what’s happening around the county. I love hearing the news!”

Vivienne moved to Manhattan in 2011 and worked for the Manhattan Public Library and the City of Manhattan before joining the county. Originally from San Diego, California she moved to Kansas to be closer to her extended family.  We are so happy that Vivienne has landed here and can tell the story of what WE do for the citizens of Riley County, Kansas.

Congratulations are in order for Vivienne, as she is not only February Employee of the Month, but she also got married recently, changing her name from Uccello to Leyva (pronounced LAY-vuh).
