[ARCHIVED] No outdoor burning - dangerous fire conditions

red flag waving in strong wind

No outdoor burning again today (3/16) in Riley County. Windy and dry weather is expected to create dangerous fire conditions for the next several days. Check and recheck all recent fires (chimineas, campfires, brush piles, controlled burns, etc.) Call 9-1-1 if you see or suspect a wildfire.

“Last year we had several major wildfires in Riley County and many across the state. Much of our landscape is fuel rich, very dry, and ready to burn with high intensity, and we ask people to stay vigilant this season," said Deputy Fire Chief John Martens.
