I would like to nominate Gilbert Terrell as Employee of the Month for May 2012. In November of 2011, Gilbert was given the task of replicating but enlarging our vault and plan room at our new location at 6215 Tuttle Creek Blvd. To make the process even more difficult we wanted to retain the same numbering system while trying to maximize the space with different sizes of storage tubes. This was no easy task, Gilbert had to develop a plan, build the new framework, cut and place the shelving and cut and prepare 975 plus PVC storage tubes
To add even more stress to this project, we made several changes to the conceptual design during the construction of the project. Each time Gilbert would reassess the situation, make suggestions and then make the necessary changes without complaining, even finishing the project prior to his December 14th deadline.
Gilbert takes pride in the finished product. He saw ways to make the final product better and added several of his own touches which really enhanced the end product.
In addition to the storage tubes, we needed shelving to store our oversized road records and survey books on. We were having difficulty finding just the right item. Gilbert stepped up and offered to build them for us. Of course we took him up on his offer and he built a very functional bookcase for those books. Thanks Gilbert for all your hard work!
Thanks to Gilbert, we now have a compact, functional and attractive plan room equipped with a rolling ladder to easily access the storage tubes, all at a fraction of the cost of a purchased one. You are a talented craftsman and we appreciate your dedication. Riley County is very fortunate to have you as an employee.
